End of the Month

The end of the month is fast approaching, be sure to check your coupons to see what is about to expire. I did this earlier today before I head to Meijers. I was able to pick up Starkist tuna for $.17 a pouch and I also picked a pouch on Betty Crocker Instant potatoes for $.09. I found 2 coupons to save $.50 (they doubled to $1) on 2 cans of Campbell's Tomato Soup. I was able to get four cans of soup for $.72 total. I am glad we eat a lot of soup with grilled cheese in the winter. Meijer also has Kraft Singles on sale 2 for $4. I had two coupons for $.50 off when they doubled to $1. I was able to get two packages of cheese for $2. I try to shop at Meijer or Kroger's because they double coupons up to $.50. If something happens to be on sale the coupon goes further.

50% Off Red Sticker Clearance at Joann Fabrics

Joann Fabrics has an additional 50% off their red sticker clearance. If you are on their email list or mailing list you should have received a coupon for an additional 10% of your entire purchase starting December 31. This would make for some good deals. I happened to have a 20% of my entire purchase coupon. I found Crayola products marked down to $.97 and $1.97 with sale they we were $.48 and $.98 plus 20% off that. I also found some great deals in the Christmas stuff at 70% off plus additional 20% off the sale price. I love bargains!

Free Lee Jeans

I received an email from Lee Jeans. I am one of the lucky winners of a pair of Jeans in their Facebook promotion. They had to change the rules after the first day. I had signed up before they made the change. I should receive my jeans in 4 to 8 weeks I hope they fit.

I didn't get much blogging done over the past few weeks. I had two cases of the stomach flu. I missed most of Christmas. I am back hopefully. I also have a part time job in retail after the first of the year my hours should cut back some.

Christmas Recipe # 6 Carmel Corn

This is what everyone in my family wants for Christmas. I feel bad for the teenagers who can't have it because of their braces may be next year.

Carmel Corn

In a heavy sauce pan, heat to boiling and boil for 5 minutes. You want to keep stirring this while you are waiting for it to boil so it does not burn. It will cook fast and burn if you don't watch it.

2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup butter or margarine
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla

You will need about 7 1/2 quarts of popped popcorn (not microwave popcorn). Place popcorn in 2 jelly roll pans, pour Carmel mixture over popcorn and toss gently. Bake at 200 degrees for 1 hour stirring every 15 minutes. Place on wax paper to cool and store in an air tight container.

I can't believe this week has flown by already. I have been fighting some kind of bug. I don't like being sick this time of year way to much to do. I am going to try to do my blogging either in the mornings on my days off and in the evenings on the days that I work. I didn't get much int he mail this week. I did receive a sample on Millstone coffee and a Kashi bar. I hope next the mailman brings me lots of freebies. I will also be guest posting over at A Mommy On A Mission. This is my sister's blog she is expecting her fourth child. She has asked me to help post any deals, freebies, or goodies I may find. I will do my best to keep everyone informed.

Save $.50 on Betty Crocker Potatos

There is a great printable coupon here for Betty Crocker Potatoes. It is in the ad on the right hand side. I had to refresh my screen once to get the ad to be able to print this coupon. Be sure to use your back button to print two of them. It will make for some free or almost free potatoes if you are able to use it were they double coupons. You don't eat instant potatoes use the coupon to pick up a couple of boxes to take to your local food pantry. I also noticed a coupon for Green Giant Frozen Vegetables that coupon when doubled would make for some very inexpensive veggies. You might want to keep refreshing your screen and see what other coupons may be there. I am going back to do that now.

Save $2 on Snuggle

Update I was able to find the dryer sheets for $1.87. I bought 3 to donate.

In yesterdays Red Plum insert there was a coupon to save $2 on Snuggle. It is reported that Snuggle dryer sheets are $1.86 a box at Walmart. I have not had time to check this out, but I will so if you have this coupon you could get some free dryer sheets at Walmart. If I am able to get some free dryer sheets they will be a great item to donate to local food pantry.

Target Deal

Target has introduced some new coupons one of them is to save $1 on Swiss Miss Milk Chocolate Cocoa. I was there yesterday and the Swiss Miss Cocoa was on sale for $.99 with coupon that would make it free. You find the Target printable coupons here. If you don't drink this product it would make great item to doante to a local food pantry. There also a coupon for $1 off two Ghirardelli products, you could combine that with the coupons I told you about in a previous post when they are on sale to make for some inexpensive candy. Target now limits the number of coupons you can print to 2 per computer.

Hallmark has released a released a great coupon; you can save $5 on total purchase. I used a similar coupon just yesterday and paid $.76 for 2 cards. It says it is only good at Gold Crown Stores. You can get your coupon here. The coupon is good until Christmas Eve.

Christmas Recipe #4 Hash Brown Casserole

I get requests to bring this to family dinners.

Hash Brown Casserole

2 cans (10 3/4 ounces each) condensed cream of potato soup, undiluted
1 cup (8 ounces) sour cream
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1 package (2 pounds) frozen hash brown potatoes cubed shaped
2 cups (8 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

In a large bowl, combine the soup, sour cream, and garlic salt. Add potatoes and cheddar cheese; mix well. Pour into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish. Top with Parmesan cheese. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 55 to 60 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Serves 12 - 16.

Christmas Recipe #3 Jay's Favorite Chicken

This is great to serve on you are having guests over for dinner. It also makes a great meal to take to someone.

Jay's Favorite Chicken

4 boneless chicken breasts
4 slices of Swiss Cheese
1 10 3/4 ounce can of Cream of Chicken Soup
1/2 cup milk
1 box dry stuffing mix (2 cups)
1/2 to 1 stick of melted butter or margarine

Arrange chicken breasts in a greased 9 x 13 pan. Place a slice of cheese on each breast. Combine milk and soup together, pour over cheese covered chicken. Toss stuffing and butter together; sprinkle over chicken mixture.

Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until chicken is done.

Serve with cottage cheese and cooked baby carrots.

Christmas Recipe #2 Mom's Vegetable Soup

It is great on a cold winter day served with some warm fresh bread. It is a quick any easy recipe.

Mom's Vegetable Soup

16 ounce package frozen garden vegetable blend

1 onion, chopped

4 potatoes, peeled and diced

46 ounce can tomato juice

3 cups water

1 tablespoon oil

1 teaspoon salt


Combine all ingredients in a large soup pot. Bring to a boil over medium heat; boil for 20 minutes. Reduce heat and simmer for one hour. Soup will thicken as it simmers. Makes 4 to 6 servings. I found it depends on on the juice I sometimes add extra water to thin it out.

Christmas Favorite Recipes #1 Reindeer Food

I am going to put some recipes of my favorite Christmas Goodies here on the blog for all to use. I like things that are simple an this is one of the favorite goodies people like to get as a gift. It is easy to make.

Reindeer Food

1 1 pound bag of Plain M & M 'S (red and green)
2 cups stick pretzels
2 cups Cheerios
3 cups Rice Chex
3 cups Corn Chex
2 cups unsalted peanuts (I usually leave out due to nut allergies)
1 package of White Chocolate Almond Bark ( I have found the bark that comes in a tray works better. I get it at Krogers.)

Mix all dry ingredients in a very large bowl or stock pot.

Melt chocolate almond bark following the directions on the package.

Pour over the dry mixture and stir until well coated.

Pour out on to wax paper to dry.

Once it is dry break up and put in an air tight container.

It is so easy to make. I usually measure out all of my cereals and pretzels at one time and place in plastic storage bags. When ready to make I just add my candy & nuts, melt my chocolate and I am done in no time. I make several batches of this every year.

Walgreen's has M & M 'S on sale and they also have a coupon for them in their December coupon book. When you combine the two coupon it makes the $1.50 a bag.

December 1st. Printable Coupons

Since it is December 1st most printable coupons have reset. Yeah! I have put together a few of the good ones I have found so far.

Save $2 on two pack of Viva Paper Towels and $.75 on one Kleenex Product. These are manufacturers coupons that you can print at Kmart website. You can find them here. When combined with a sale you can get some cheap paper goods. I would checkout all of the coupons at the site. Update some of these coupons can only be used at Kmart. Sorry this cause any confusion.

Red Plum has a coupon to save $1 on M & M's when you buy two. You can print that coupon here. They have been having trouble with this coupon but keep trying I was able to print two of them.

Coupons.com has reset most of there coupons. You can find great coupons on Betty Crocker potatoes, frosting, cookie mixes, and a lot more items. The Spuds Potato $5 off coupon has reset. You can find these great coupons here. I would print the coupons when you see them because some of them won't last long.
